Miami Heat's Terry Rozier must forfeit most of his $26.6 million salary for the 2025-26 season after an arbitrator ruled he breached his contract with the team. The decision comes amid allegations of Rozier's involvement in a sprawling sports betting scheme. Rozier, who has pleaded not guilty to the gambling scheme allegations, was found to have violated his obligations to play for the Heat, with the arbitrator citing the conditions of his pretrial release in the criminal case. The court imposed travel restrictions and prohibited Rozier from contacting any team members of the Heat and the Charlotte Hornets, including players, coaches, and medical staff members. Rozier's attorney, Jim Trusty, argued that the conditions of Rozier's release should be modified to remove the Hornets from his no-contact list, citing the potential impact on Rozier's ability to play in the NBA. The league, along with the Heat and the Hornets, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Rozier was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering in October and pleaded not guilty. Last week, federal prosecutors filed additional charges, including sports bribery and honest services wire fraud conspiracy. Rozier is scheduled to be arraigned next week on the new charges and will plead not guilty.
