Giannis Antetokounmpo Focused on the Season

Heat star Giannis Antetokounmpo is already focused on this season. He wants to arrive for training camp in September in the best shape possible. He wants to be on the same page with teammates by the start of the season. All of his focus is on the Heat. So that's why Antetokounmpo is skipping playing for Greece in FIBA competition. The news was reported Monday that this was done at the Heat's request but Antetokounmpo hinted this was happening at his introductory press conference. Here's what he said. "I'll be here. I'm doing it for me. If I'm not here, I won't know what the (bleep) is going on. I want to know everything - offense, defense. So when training camp comes, I'm already ahead of them, and I can talk to them. If I don't know the offense, how can i talk to my teammates."

Former Heat Player Comments on Leaving Team

Former Heat player Norman Powell had arguably the best season of his NBA career with the Miami Heat last season. Many expected it was the first of many in Miami for Powell. After earning his first berth in the All-Star game, it all came to an end after the season. Powell left during free agency last month to play for the Chicago Bulls. He recently explained his thought process for leaving but admitted he wanted to play with new Heat superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. "Honestly, I thought I would be going back to Miami throughout the course of the year. We knew they wanted to get Giannis. We heard some rumblings that 'Norm and Giannis sounds really good.' So I thought that was the path," Powell said in an interview.
